Now I m stuck with a treadmill which will probably need to be repaired each time I use the machine >> Wish I could use it to give a decent review UPDATE Purchased and received my treadmill April 1st It s been sitting on my living room floor unopened because it arrived with the locking mechanism stuck I had to leave a message with tech support and wait to get a call back Three hours later they returned my phone call They gave me the option to ship me replacement parts break the plastic and install the new locking mechanism myself no thanks what if I break the wrong thing or wait for a technician to contact me Technician contacts me four days later No replacement parts were sent to him to come to my house to replace the locking mechanism Still waiting to hear back from the technician I m calling him today If this doesn t get resolved by next Friday I m returning this and not getting another one It s not worth the frustration More updates to follow
April 11th Still no word from a technician and tech support is closed on the weekends Out of sheer frustration I forced the unit opened breaking a plastic thing on the base I didn t care at that point I removed the obstructing plastic object which appears to have become bent while shipping and was preventing the locking mechanism from disengaging and now the right side locks and unlocks as it was meant to So I greased it up and let it run for an hour as I was told I ve been on it a total of three hours since I got it opened today
PROS It runs exceptionally quietly I tried toying with the first program but my skill level and rather short stature does not allow me to go any faster than 4mph right now so I stuck with the manual settings on 3 5 It fits in my rather small room well and I can manage storing it away It s the perfect size for what I was looking for and the perfect functionality I haven t tried the speakers yet
CONS The belt tends to shift to the right when i walk on it but stays centered when I m not on it testing centering at 1mph Odd but so far not a problem The heart rate monitor readings are all over the place The plastic casing immediately in front of the belt seems to get pressed down when closed and when I start the treadmill up it drags on the belt and makes an awful noise until i push it up
Overall I feel like I got what I paid for Not top of the line that s for sure but it s serving it s purpose I m going to walk every day now I hope it stays in tact long enough

1 Dual time requires mode switching There is no way to check time in the other zone with a quick glance you have to switch modes see point 2 If only we could make the 24 hour sub dial display the hour in the second time zone like Nighthawk there would be no need for separate TME and L TM modes Yes this requires an additional motor and I would have gladly paid for that See also point 3
2 The features are not quickly accessible You need to switch modes to access different features and that can take literally minutes waiting for the hands to finish spinning Minutes to change alarm settings To see the second time zone I don t have that kind of patience
3 Chronograph maxes out at one hour They could have used the 24 hour sub dial to indicate chrono hours requires the same additional motor as 1 It would not be too bad if the chronograph just keep running after rolling back to zero I can remember which hour I started timing Instead it stops and switches displayed time to TME even if it was in L TM why Oh and chronograph resets when you switch to either of the time modes TME or L TM
4 Alarm only in TME time Suppose you travel from US East Coast to Japan No problem you use TME for time at home and set L TM time to local time in Japan easily done by design Now you want to wake up at 7am You cannot set the alarm to 7am you have to set it to the US East Coast time when it will be 7am in Japan We use local time for our daily schedule why should the alarm be different
I still think that this is a nice watch But it would be so much better if the designer at Citizen had used more common sense and made better use of the currently quite useless 24 hour sub dial

The Design Flaws 1 Plastic components on criticle pieces one being the ratcheting devices on the wheels to hold the bike down should ve been made of metal and the strap that feeds it should be high tension rubber not plastic as the ratchet can slip on the teeth freeing the tension on the bike
2 The strong arm that holds the bike down on the front wheel can come loose It too has very shallow teeth in which to grab stamped into metal again using plastic on metal
3 The MOST critical piece that did in fact fail more than the above metioned flaws is the pin that keeps the bike rack level It only goes in just over a quarter of an inch As the bike travels any bump frees the pin it catches when it comes down and essentially ratchets itself free causing the rack to drop It doesn t drop to the ground thank goodness but why even have it drop any It should bottom out when level and a pin should go all the way through with a cotter pin of sorts to keep it in place There is a hole on the other side so I drilled the pin side out and put an eight grade bolt with locking nut on the other side
4 The two bolts that hold each platform are put in upside down along with the bracket wtf It should mount on top Another thing is that in about two minutes you can unscrew these with a wrench and take the bikes along with half your rack Not a good anti theft system
5 The cable it comes with is a joke along with the locking mechanism that bolts through your reciever You have to pound the lock on to get it to lock The mechanism is comprised of a soft lead like metal that shaves off easily not a good thing when used on a hardened steel bolt that it comes with it weakens it then is useless
If Yakima fixed these it would have one bomber bike carrier It is heavy duty just the design flaws are critical in keeping your bikes on the rack securely I had no problem with them falling off they just came loose the pin backed out several times and the rack fell several times not good going down a highway

2 The pucks are cheap The second day of owning it one of the tops the blue part/red part fell right off I used some superglue good as new
3 There is not much of a dip from the actual playing surface to where the pucks fall down at the end of the table We ve had it a happen a few times now that a puck will land on top of another puck and because of that will still be resting on the playing surface We re not serious shuffleboarders we just think this game is fun so we ve had a good laugh over that and its helped me to win a few games
Overall good table for the money Not as nice as what you see in bars but you re paying about 1500 less for this so you get what you paid for I m happy

Kettler Edition Power Stepper >> Great machine/Lousy instruction This review is only preliminary as I have just received the stepper today and I wanted to give others interested in this stepper a little heads up in what to expect
I was looking for good mechanical stepper that was cut above cheaper version 50 100 but not quite industrial gym class KETTLER stepper is German product and it is very sturdily built Amazon had the unit delivered via specialized delivery company CEVA instead of normal USPS UPS or Fed Ex due to its heavy weight
If you are not mechanically inclined I recommend having experienced handyman person to help you along The instruction manual is one of the worse I have ever come across No detailed step by step instruction in English You rely on overly simplistic pictures to muddle your way through assembly What English there was no more than operational warning If you re doing your own assembly study the instruction VERY CLOSELY otherwise you will have big headache building this exerciser
The training computer that came with this stepper was different than the one pictured in Amazon I don t know if the version I received was older or newer model Amazon claim the computer is easy to operate but here again the included instruction was confusing so I haven t programmed yet
That said once the stepper was assembled I tried it and I have to say I am pleased Even in its lowest setting I can feel my leg muscle getting a good workout I plan to use the equipment every day so if there is any change for the worse I will update this review The machine come with three year parts and lifetime frame warranty so I take comfort in that

If you order and receive stepper with computer console design that is different than one pictured in Amazon be careful if you want to exchange it
At least in my case I sent Amazon e mail asking if it was possible to exchange computer console for the one pictured in the website I honestly thought I will receive reply either exchange is not possible or it has to be complete stepper exchange and whether I would like to do that
Turns out Amazon procedure is automatic shipment of replacement stepper instead of asking the customer if they want that Since I had already assembled my stepper I wasn t interested in exchange of another so I called customer service to try to cancel that replacement shipment and found I can t cancel I had to wait and call back customer service again at a later time and speak with higher up who finally solved the headache I was having

This stepper has 12 level adjustable resistance I am of opinion that the adjustable setting is not that precise After I got comfortable at level 1 setting I have tried changing the setting from level 1 to level 2 and then level 3 Initially I noted some change in resistance but as I continued stepping I thought the resistance ease Because this stepper use hydraulic resistance temperature change may affect the stepping resistance
Currently I am using this stepper one 30 minute session five days out of week I hope to increase the time to 60 minutes per session down the road

Schwinn Rocket Adult Dual Suspension Mountain Bike >> A sound investment At last I have come through the gauntlet of mountain bike buying much scarred but also much wiser I will try to briefly explain why I consider the Schwinn Rocket is a victory for me and hopefully save other people much grief in choosing a good bike My experience in mountain bikes goes back to the early days of mountain bikes but is based more realistically in the biking needs of four growing boys and their middle aged parents Like most I have largely purchased off the shelf box store bikes Like most I have had more negative than positive experiences I attempted over the years to upgrade to better bikes from the box store but with little real world improvement I have used bikes on the higher end but cannot hope to buy such bikes for six people What I wanted was a bike that would cost no more than twice what the box store offered For this money I wanted a bike that offered at least twice the quality and reliability as well What I found was the Schwinn Rocket Here is a comparison with better quality box store bikes and the Schwinn Rocket WHEELS Please go with alloy Steel wheels are heavy and rust practically over night Some box store bikes have alloy wheels Schwinn wins here with double wall rims This is very important since it is very easy to bend rims on the trail or even on a rough road commute FRAME Aluminum is a must I have box store bikes with aluminum frames and they are worth it for their lite weight Schwinn wins again The quality is immediately apparent coming right out of the box Paint is very nice for the price category and someone obviously cared to take the time to put the stickers on neatly not to mention it isn t overloaded with useless gaudy stickers The Iso Drive frame is definitely superior to other suspensions I have tried Importantly there is no bobbing over ripple surfaces Four inches of suspension travel doesn t hurt a bit either GEARS Everyone is putting Shimano stickers on their bikes these days CAUTION Base grade Shimano derailleurs are better than anything else the box store offers but they often combine them with lame shifting systems The Rocket uses better grade Shimano components and their click shifter has put the joy back into riding again It operates smoothly and is precise no guessing about what gear you stumbled into or the subsequent noises that come from gears that have not shifted properly or are in need of constant adjustment A VERY NICE shift/gear system alone makes this bike a winner for the price BRAKES I hadn t given much thought about brakes as they have seldom been a problem for me When I started using the Shimano breaks on the Rocket that all changed I had previously considered disc brakes but now I say Who needs them Well actually they would be an improvement in adverse weather conditions but for most of us the Shimano self aligning breaks will more than meet the need SEAT While the Rocket s seat still leaves a lot to be desired it is an obvious improvement over most seats on the box store bikes I purchased a Lycra Gel Seat by Ergo and couldn t be happier So we have Nice quality descent engineering attention to detail This bike will make a fine recreational commuter and light/medium trail bike All in all the Rocket is not for the serious off road racing aficionado but for the average person looking for the most bang out of their hard earned buck the Rocket is the way to go >> good bike I only give this 4 stars because there is no kickstand for this bike and one part was missing I called customer service and this bike doens t come with a kickstand supposedly this is to be a high end bike and it is to be customized at a dealer Umm I search the net and the price for this is in the 300 range even though the lady made it sound like it was a VERY expensive bike Anyway the one part that was missing they are sending out it should have been put on at the factory it was the cap that covers the opening in the frame where the pedal bar come out This bike is made in china most bikes are these days which is a shame that we can ship the work half way around the world instead of paying our own people Other than those problems the bike seems sturdy enough and is mostly put together we had to attach the one brake handle bars and front wheel This is for a birthday present so we weren t able to try it out for long The seat bar is much too long so we will have to cut a portion of it off to make it fit properly It seems worth the 300 plus price tag >> So far so good Finding a good quality mountain bike that won t cost an arm a leg is a difficult task I didn t know a lot about mountain bikes but wanted to replace my boyfriend s bike for Christmas He d had a Giant Iguana bike which he d gotten for only 35 at a garage sale 10 years ago The only thing he insisted on having was thumbshifter gears not gripshifters because the bike would switch gears whenever he d stand up to ride uphill No doubt Giant bikes are awesome but new they were 1000 and up This Schwinn bike seems to have all the specs he wanted/ needed sturdy frame thumbshifter gears Shimano parts 20 frame large 26 wheels decent quality tires a guy friendly seat and easy assembly Since Schwinn has been bought by Pacific Cycle it s hard to say if this is a true Schwinn bike or one made by PC with the Schwinn label slapped on It was difficult to find reliable sources of info on mountain bikes Many mountain bike sites are geared for hardcore cyclists who snub parts that can t withstand BMX style jumps and off roading was somewhat helpful in that it listed blogs of people evaluating individual parts of bikes but sometimes the blogs were too skewed by personal opinion to be helpful for people like me who wanted to know they were buying a decent quality mountain bike for under 500 that would handle mostly street commutes My boyfriend was really pleased when he opened his present and assembled it right away Amazon delivered the bike within a few days even though Christmas was a week away I don t advise talking to Schwinn about this bike since they don t seem to keep record of it once it s sent to a 3rd party for sale In contrast Amazon s customer service was very helpful As far as I can tell this bike is much better quality than any you d buy from a big box retailer which many blogs tend to snub I d recommend having a pro bike shop assemble/adjust it to make sure everything is running smoothly several novices blogged about problems with brakes on their bikes for example and more experienced bikers advised that the brakes were fine they just needed to be professionally adjusted This bike looks and feels even better in person than in the pictures shown

TAG Heuer Men s CAF1010 FT8011 Aquaracer Chronotimer Watch >> Feature packed luxury Tag watch I have been looking for a feature rich watch ie alarm stop watch count down timer etc a digital watch but wanted a watch that I could use for work especially with travel I do 90 of my travel outside the US so a second time zone and an always with me alarm is a blessing This watch is a very classy yet practical and functional watch It has a rubber strap so it is more sporty vs the bracelet style It is quiet some are loud when they tick and it has a host of features some listed above all shown in the demo at The operation is simple once you read the instructions don t lose them A very nice bonus feature that I am surprised more watches don t have is the diary feature you can set an alarm for a future date a month 2 or 3 from now to go off at an appointed time In this day of PDA iPods and BlackBerry it is nice to know that if you simply have your watch which some of us never leave home with out you won t miss the important call meeting or what ever it is you don t want to forget
Key features you don t see in the book the hour markers and hands are treated with a light activated luminous material maybe Super Luminova but not sure They glow not as bright as my Luminox but continue to glow for 7 hours on my longest test and were easily visible from about 2 feet away with my poor uncorrected vision that is I could see it with out my eye glasses on They also do list the digital watch having a light this is needed in dim light as the LCD display is not visible in anything modest amounts of ambient room light The buttons require a firm push to cause an action and give a satisfying tactile feedback click to let you know you pushed it in for the function to happen I do not see these buttons accidently being pushed due the the force needed to activate The same is true for the crown which when pushed activates the digital light feature One caution the crown must be pulled out to set various functions time countdown timer alarm etc and if left in the out position you run the very real risk of having water or other undesired debris in to the watch so keep it pushed in at all times
The design is very clean and considering all that it can do is not too cluttered The lower digital window appears more prominent in the pictures then it does in real life due to the angle of the light If it catches it just right the window border is easily seen otherwise it just fades into the face of the watch not the case with the yellow face The bezel is easy to rotate with good tactile feedback and not lose or prone to accidental rotation It has a lum dot at the top for night time use The hour hand is long enough that the lum tip does over lap the hour markers so at night it takes an extra second to identify the longer hour marker so you now where the hour hand is Alternatively you can just use the digital light to read the time

I suggest that anyone considering this watch should try the interactive Chronotimer demo at the Tag website which lets you try the functions of the watch and gives you a great overview of the features and operation
The pushers have a very solid feel with good feedback as does the rotating bezel ratchet The rubber strap is high quality very comfortable and elegantly executed
As other reviewers have stated the hands of this watch are very hard to discern with a quick glance In the dark you can totally lose the minute hand if it rests directly over a 5 minute marker because the lume of the hand is the same size and color as the marker I only deducted one star for the hands because I knew it was an issue and so I was not surprised Yet the beauty and functionality of this watch far outweighs that downside

CygoLite Trion 600 Triple LED Bike Light with Internal Li Ion Battery >> Great for the coastside trail I m using this light to ride the local coastside trail at night in pitch black conditions on a mountain bike the light is plenty to fully illuminate the trail and surrounding area in front of the bicycle It seems to be almost as bright as my car headlights I haven t had any issues thus far This light also works as the best flashlight you ve ever used when it is off of the bicycle >> Bike light This was the replacment for my 600 Nitefider Moab it died after two years This may do the same but I was ready for a change I really like no wires no extra battery pack It is tough also I have dropped it at 20 mph on the pavement thought I would have wasted 300 but it worked fine still does I do endurance riding and night rides this is good for about 3 hours For a all nighter you need a couple more The Moab charge lasted 11 hours this about 3 I would recommend it My wife gets mad everytime I buy a new bike part they are expensive Better than drinking smoking and yelling at the kids >> 600 Lumens For You Anybody seeking a light with 400 lumens or more better be prepared to spend serious money That being said the measely 300 is a modest price when you compare the Trion to the Light Motion Seca series or the Niterider lights Cygolite has made their lights reasonably priced with exceptional performance When compared to the competition Cygolite products are difficult to beat
If cables is an issue the Trion is the light to own The other manufacturers do not make any lights this powerful that are self contained with batteries inside the main housing Before I purchased the Trion I bought the Triden X 600 The unit came with a stem mount and all the essentials to mount the battery to the frame One problem my stem length of 100mm was too short to mount the battery Units with higher outputs have larger batteries than those that have 350 lumens or less Attaching the unit to my high end carbon frame didn t make sense It was never an option being that I have an 8000 professional road bike Somehow attaching a battery to such a high end bike was nothing more than a classless act
The Trion is very well made I find it durable and suitable for extreme weather conditions The documentation could be written better but all the essential information is enclosed Exceeding speeds above 25mph the Trion with its 600 lumens generates enough light to give me plenty of warning to avoid any potholes glass or any other obstacle that may be hazardous
I ride my road bike in harsh conditions The Trion has performed well in temperatures ranging from 5 to 40 degrees There has been no problems with the battery life in these conditions This light has exceeded my expectations It comes highly recommended

TAG Heuer Men s CAH1110 BA0850 Formula 1 Chronograph Watch >> Cool watch but I don t know about the warranty First of all the watch itself is beautiful and elegant Great price No complaints about the product Everything is fine but when you read the warranty theme things get a little bit confuse as follows first if you read the Manual it says that the warranty comes in a little card inside the package then you take a look at the little card and says nothing it is not fill by the distributor as required in the Manual So It looks like you don t fulfill the conditions to ask for the warranty as stated in the Manual >> Nice Classic Looking Watch I just purchased this watch through amazon com It was either this or the formula one alarm version at costco The alarm feature on the other version isn t very useful so I decided against it Packaging was nice came in the tag box and case with manual I like the look of chronograph watches and the additional feature to stopwatch anything is something i wanted to time rides drives runs etc
Style is up to taste but I find this a simple casual style watch you can wear with a t shirt or be formal with a suit
The two buttons on it are pretty easy to use one to start/split and the other to stop/reset
The watch has two main features one is to tell time and the other is the chronograph
For telling time the big red second hand doesn t move and hovers over the 12 o clock mark The dial on bottom serves as the second hand and moves continuously
In Chronograph mode the top right dial only moves after you stop the stopwatch or to do a split time It will move to show the time in 1/10 The large red second hand will start to move once you are in chronograph mode and the left dial will move for minutes I m not sure but I assume if you do something for over 30 minutes then the dial will continually move and reset at 1minute
Overall I m very happy with it I believe Amazon has the lowest price on the web and they give a 2 year warranty which equals TAGs Costco has a similar warranty deal as well The prices are better than ebay and those guys don t even offer a warranty period The only thing stopping me from giving it 5 stars is it s reliability and service life For something you pay 750 for you expect it to last nearly a lifetime This will remain to be seen
I ve also noticed when I purchased the price fluctuates between 729 749 day to day So if you re patient just keep on checking to save that extra 20 00 >> Great Tag Heuer I was bit nervous about ordering a fine watch over the internet but my fears were baseless I love this watch It is exactly what was advertised The only downside is that since Amazon is not an official Tag Heuer retailer you don t get an official warranty card However Amazon does provide a comparable 2 year warranty All in all I am very pleased with my purchase

Konus M30 7281 Riflescope 6 5x 25x44mm Illuminated Zoom >> Unfreakinbelievable First impressions were awesome scope heavy long but very clear and bright The turrets were very easy to use even though they are 1/8moa and the locking mechanism on the turrets is a very nice feature when slinging Audible and tactile clicks on each turret The scope performed well at the range shot from 100 400yds The illumination on the scope is vibrant and very very blue The only thing I can find wrong with it is the scope caps They flip up but every time I go to flip them up they fall off since there isn t a tight seal between the rubber and the metal Oh well a few butler creeks and the problem was solved GREAT SCOPE GREAT PRICE I was looking at the Millet TRS 1 and finally opted to get the M30 instead NO REGRETS HERE This thing is BOMB It s a little large for my liking however for the price and what you get who cares I prefer to use the scope at 10x 14x however when needing to go the extra distance it s nice to know you have the option As I said before no regrets here
If you re lingering between this scope and another stop considering and just buy the M30 You won t regret it >> Excellent scope wothout breaking your wallet After a lot of reading shopping advice from other shooters I began to think I d never find a decent scope for my Rem 700 pss 308 without spending at least 600 But I believe I ve found a winner When I received it it was well packaged This thing is huge if you re looking to save weight you may wanna take notice The glass is very good Ive heard some compare it to Nikkon and even Leupold The adjustments very audible and distinct I am able to reset the zero and the lock actually came in handy at the last match I used it in I shoot as a hobby and partake in modified f class events and this thing is great at 1k The scope covers that come with it are ehhh but what do you expect It holds a zero and so far I am very happy with it I currently have it set up with Burris xtreme med rings and a Badger 20 moa base My advice is get it before the price jumps up

Money There is a jump in cost Both the 8 and 10 are powerful enough to do serious astronomy Both are good scopes Both should last for years There is always a bigger scope out there for a few more dollars One must draw the line somewhere
Weight In my mind the 8 is the largest of the truly inexpensive portable dobs and the smallest of the large aperture light buckets The 6 is a wonderful scope I don t intend to let go of it but I wouldn t call it a large aperture scope The 10 is a light bucket but I wouldn t call it easily portable The 8 is both I have the strength to move my 10 but noticed that I wasn t using it as much Then I purchased a garden cart to haul it around in and now I use it several times a week It wasn t that I couldn t pick it up it was just awkward and I was worried that I was going to break it
BOTTOM LINE
If you have the money and don t need to lug it around a lot get the 10 I m glad I did
If the cost is prohibitive or you need to move it around a lot get the 8 All three are excellent scopes

The included pods in the tri pack feel really sturdy and are really much easier to sync up with the watch than the reviews often suggest The bike pod is an awesome concept the foot pod has been right at 10k on the three 10ks I ve run with this watch And as far as the info You d be blown away with the amount of data you get on your PC after every work out Its a bit dauting and I suppose unless your a coach or do a lot of studying a lot of it is hard to interpret
The included users manual in 24plus languages is a joke The watch is explained in about 8 english pages and it leaves you just as puzzled There are VERY detailed PDF manuals from Suunto on their web page though the watch is super intuitive once you find the Mode button
As for delivery I am currently living in Mexico City and was not expecting the watch to arrive 4 days after ordering Very very surprises happy especially as it arrived the day before the triathlon

Swift Audubon 828HHS Binoculars 8 5 x 44 HCF waterproof roof >> Look no further I have worked on microscopes as part of my career as a geologist Because of this I have gotten quite particular about optical equipment quality But I m also thrifty enough to realize that although the 1K level binculars as offered by Zeiss Leitz Swarovski are absolutely top shelf I m not trying to find a bighorn sheep a mile away in between glacial crags I m doing local birding and deer hunting within 300 yards So I spent many hours researching the various price/quality levels on the web and at local shops I found very few shop hands that knew much in detail about binoc optics After a narrowing down to a few options I purchased the Swift Audubon I m very happy with this item At this price level I don t think you will find better optical quality Diopter correction is easy to set the focus is fast enough for birding and the light gathering at dusk/dawn is excellent Going light is good but if something is very light it ll be mostly plastic/composites and it ll be less likely to take a few knocks so don t get swayed only on weight I find these to be easy to carry and the construction is substantial enough to take normal field abuse Buy them you ll like em >> My current favorite binoculars I ve had these binoculars for over one year I use them mainly for birding My previous binoculars were my almost 25 year old Leitz Trinovid 10x40 s The Trinovids were excellent binoculars in their day but they are definitely getting long in the tooth I ll keep them because let s face it I ll never be able to afford the current Leica binoculars
I tried several brands before settling on the Swift Audubon roof prisms What I found was that some binoculars excel in some areas but fall short in others Of those I tried the Audubons were the most comfortable to use with good depth of field brightness and sharpness Oddly the Audubons do not really seem to excel in any area they simply provide a combination of attributes that make them pleasant to use
I give these binoculars my highest recommendation Unfortunately the only way to tell if a binocular fits your vision and handling characteristics is to try them That s impossible when ordering online so be sure to order from a place like Amazon a place that will take them back if they don t work for you >> Sharp image even in lower light situations IMO it s the best roof prism pair of binoculars you can get under 500 My one and only complaint is the screw type eye relief tubes can t be locked in position except all the in or out
